My Observations (5)

Image
Based on my prediction from my first blog I was right for the most part. A lot  of the people who went to the Pleasantville dog park where mostly older men and women. The Babylon dog park is filled with mostly kids and families. Babylon is a very small town where just about everyone knows everyone. When I would go the park in Babylon it was more of a very family orientated park, always filled with kids and family. I chose got observer a dog park because I have always had a love for dogs and I was very curious to compare and contrast the similarities and differences between the two. It's only human to be a little bias but if I had to choose which park I liked Better I would chose my park back home just because of the atmosphere. The Pleasantville dog park was more of a older more mature crows as supposed to a more fun child oriented park. I really enjoyed observing the park because of all the dogs I got to see. I have always been a fan of dogs and when I got the opportunity to ob...

Dog owners (4)

In my previous blog I spoke about how the people in the park interacted, now let's shift our focus to the 5 dogs in the park and how they interacted with one another. I was very curious to see how the dogs got along with each other because unlike most dog parks there was only one big area, instead of a small dog and big dod area. Out of the 5 dogs there was only one small dog, this caught my eye because I was worried he was going to get harassed by the other 4 big dogs.  One Tibetan terrier vs a Great Dane, Black Lab, Australian Shepherd, and a Boxer. I sat back and began to watch the dogs interact with one another. I noticed the great dane was very hesitant sitting right by its owner watching the other dogs play. what really caught my eye was something I did not expect at all. I noticed the little dog was the ringleader, "buddy" his name was. Buddy was the one starting all the play fights chasing the other dogs around barking, humping, ect.  I found this to be intere...

A lot of activity (3)

Shortly after the family left the dog park it was very slow and I got bored so I decided to go to lunch. When I got back from lunch the dog park was Packed there where 5 dogs and 8 people at the park. I thought to myself just my luck when I leave they all pile in. I was afraid they have been there for a while resulting in them all living within ten minutes of me being back. However this was not the case, these people were here until I left. I noticed that the type of people here where mostly people who looked to be older the age of 20. I Noticed that they did not interact with each other all that much. They mostly kept to themselves looking on their phones or reading the news paper, however there where these two people a man a women I watched them shake hands looked to the they were introducing themselves, after they introduced themselves they sat down and began talking I could not hear what they were talking about but they were laughing and smiling, looked to be like they be...

observation day!(2)

On April 5th I took a trip down to the Pleasantville dog park. It was a beautiful day, 60 degrees and sunny.  I got to the park at 1145 am and sat down on the bench under the big tree in the back of the park. The first 20-30 minutes where slow not much activity. There was one girl who was on a run with her dog, she stopped at the park quick let her dog do its business then kept running. The girl looked like she was in her late 20's however she was in great shape. Around 1230 what looked to be a family arrived. They had a two kids one girl and one boy and two dogs one golden retriever and one black lab. I watched as the parents sat on the bench and watched the kids play with their dogs. This family brought some nice life to the park, before the came it was slow and boring however, the children's laughs and playful screams filled the air with positive energy. I then turned my focus to the parents they were sitting down on the bench both with their faces blurred in their cell p...

getting familiar with the dog park(1)

I observed the Pleasantville dog park because,   dogs and dog parks have always been a big part of my life. I grew up down the street from a dog park, where I would always take my dog Rocco. Just about everyday after school I would take my dog to the dog park and spend about an hour there, I found this to be a nice way to release my stress after a long day in school.  From observing this space I would like to gain a better understanding of how people interact with their dogs, and what type of people come to this specific dog park.  I would like to compare and contrast the Pleasantville dog park with my hometowns dog park. I think that for the most part they will be very similar however, I think that the dog park in my hometown will be more lively with younger kids running around playing with their dogs. I think that the Pleasantville dog park will be mostly full of older people letting their dogs of the leashing letting them play amongst themselves.   ...
